Denias Singing on The Cloud

     Hi guys I wanna tell you about a movie that I'm really interested about, the movie is Denias Singing on The Cloud. This movie tells about the struggle of a boy  from Papuan tribal was Denias who fight to get a good education. A  life journey of a young boy  in reaching his dreams. The age of the child approximately nine to twelve years. He lived in a tribal society Boneo Papua. Denias was a child from a poor family . Even so , he had  ideals and dreams high to school. Denias was a smart boy, nimble , filial to his parents , and had high obsessed. As children poor , Denias brave against anyone for truth , no matter with whom he was dealing. Denias and his friends was taught by a teacher who came from Java  in the Honai. He looks smart compared to his other friends , but they only studied in a short time because their teacher have to back to Jakarta.seemed like a boy who felt thirsty about education, Denias was confused, Where else he would studied again?. Then he met a soldier, Mr.Leo who called Maleo and asked him to taugth them.Day by day Denias got challenge to get education, it’s from his father and environment which were hard. Even he got trouble when his negligent made his mother died. Mr. Leo was also advised and encouraged Denias to face the new life. But Denias was able to enjoy his days with cheerful again always looked for  education. 

   

In such circumstances , Denias obsessed by the words of Mr. Leo that there is a school in behind the mountains. Then he decided himself to leave the home and also their parents. He passed the mountains and valleys to get to it. And after that, he found a building where many children like his age came to studi. It’s really hard out of his thought. At that moment, Denias met Mrs. Sam , who tried give a hand for Denias. He would accepted to school with some of terms. With the spirit, dream high and big goal in his life, Denias be one of the student and finally he got it. Denias running and dancing on the clouds.

-          Setting : 2 places , Wamena (houses or honai which stay on valleys) and Kuala Kencana Timika. (school)

-          Main Character and Subordinate : Denias as Albert Fakdawer, Ari Sihasale as Maleo, Marcella Zalianty as Mrs.Sam, Michael Jakarimilena as His father, Mathias Muchus as his teacher, Audrey Papilaya as Noel

-          Characterization : the characterization of main character is a young boy who smart, much caring to his parents and society, has effort and high dream, does not give up and has a big spirit.

-          Element: there are two elements in this movie such intrinsic and ekstrinsic. We can see that Denias get problems about education from inside or outside. Firstly, Intrinsic, he want to school but he did not have books, pen, a real teacher, even a place for study. Secondly, Ekstrinsic in this movie is come from his father who give motivation but in other side his father forbid him to school and better help his father for work and the environment  around him which thaught thats education is like unuseful something, and the place which hard to reach because it has to pass by mountains and valleys.

-          The point message of this movie : this movie show up to us about how the important of education for the children who come from the poor society and live in the place which hard to reach and far from the city. For the government this movie was made to show the children feel suffer without teacher and a good education. 

 Aspects which relate in this movie

There are some aspects that we can relate with this movie, such as Education, Moral, Social, Custom, and Culture.

-          Education : in this movie from begining to end its tells about a young boy who looking for a school to get education.

-          Moral : Moral value from this movie is when denias’s friend want to attack him but stay on calm to his friend. And his attitude who respect to his parents and society, good young boy, and obedient.

-          Social :  they give a hand between one and each other, for example in scene they work together to make a new school, and a soldier who teach the children in the village even in a short time

-          Custom : in this movie, the tribe tradition is still keep on. For example : the tradition of the party to put on koteka for a man, eating together with burn the meal and potato on the stone. Cut on of the fingers if the wife or husband die.

-          Culture : the original dialect is used in this film, the clothes and accessory such as Koteka and Noken is used too. Honai where is the home in this movie. And the scenery of Wamena Papua with the mountains, valleys and bluesky which show up in this movie.
